 FEBRUARY PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT BOB LAUDERMILCH, CPCU

Warm salutations on a cold and windy day! It's been an interesting winter to say the least.

She'll be talking to us on the topic of, “Ethics – How Do You Know What’s Right?” Your Central Pennsylvania Chapter needs you! We are still searching for willing, motivated volunteers to fill the positions of Treasurer and Vice President for next year. It's a worthy job that does not require an excessive amount of time, and training is available. Our Chapter functions and relies solely on its volunteers. If you are interested or want more information, please feel free to contact any board member. Attached to this month's Chaptergram, you'll find your invitation to our 2008 golf outing. We have room for 80 golfers. As it usually fills up quickly, please register early by returning your form and remittance to:

Alice Park, Ohio Casualty Insurance, 275 Grandview Avenue, 3rd Floor Camp Hill, PA 17011.

Please mark your calendars for the following upcoming events: Friday, March 14, our Chapter luncheon meeting will be held at Doc Holliday’s in New Cumberland, with Marsha Egan as our speaker (scroll down for details and registration form).

A Special Message from Greg Barth

On behalf of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter, we want to communicate a special note of thanks to those members that supported our recent dual workshops, held February 21 at the Harrisburg East Holiday Inn.

It was another resounding educational success for our Chapter! A total of 119 insurance professionals attended the "2007 Commercial General Liability" and "Workers Compensation - Treating the Exposure" workshops, led by the inimitable Bryan Tilden. The amphitheater setting was conducive to a good deal of meaningful Q&A, and provided a superior forum for Bryan's incisive instruction and keen wit.

The complexity of our business only seems to increase and evolve more rapidly over time, and CPCU workshops ensure that we are equipped to fully discharge our duties at a level of peak performance.

As you well know, the hallmark of a professional is a commitment to Continuing Education. All too often we succumb to the "tyranny of the moment" that seems to often dominate our industry. Compounded by a host of other distractions, we often fail to make that needed strategic educational investment in ourselves. So, I encourage each of our recent workshop attendees to apply now for the prestigious CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Award. You can access the easy-to-complete CPD form online through the Society’s Web page www.CPCUSociety.org (or use the one attached to this Chaptergram), so why not take a few moments to complete the form? After all, it is only appropriate that your commitment to continuing education be justifiably memorialized; recognized by your peers and associates! Many times, Chapter members have accrued the necessary requirements and all that needs to be done is the execution of the CPD application. I again respectfully challenge each of you to "inventory" your educational accomplishments, and submit your CPD form to Malvern for validation and approval.

Providing our membership with continuing education workshops is one of the major missions of both the national Society and your local Central Pennsylvania Chapter. To that end, we welcome your input regarding the content of future seminars and workshops, so feel free to contact me or any one of our Chapter Officers at your convenience with your comments and suggestions.

Gregory S. Barth, CPCU Education Chair and Past President, Central PA Chapter, CPCU Society
